The IAAF Regional Development Centre Jakarta organized the Coaches Education and Certification System (CECS) Level III Lecturers Course on Middle and Long Distance at the Madya Athletics Stadium in Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta on June 13-26.

IAAF senior lecturer Peter Thompson of England and Gregor Gojrzewski of Australia led the course focusing on theoretical and practical aspects of middle and long distance events for young athletes.

Participants said they were lucky to be in the course as plenty new and useful information were included in the course. The new information included new interval training, warming-up dynamics, and maximum strength specially designed for middle and long distance athletes. The course ended with an assessment consisting of coaching practice, theoretical examination, planning session exam and oral exam. Fourteen participants coming from 12 countries participated. Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore sent one representative each while Indonesia and Sri Lanka were represented by two participants.
